Even though the fleet had
only five entries, the winds were fair, the sun shining and racing fun.
Three Raiders (2 Sport(s) and a Raider II, a Flying Scott and a Trinka 12
competed in four races on Saturday and two on Sunday.
handicap rating of the first four boats was very close and so was the
racing as shown in the results. The first two races on Saturday were in 5
to 8 kts of breeze favoring the lighter skippers. Later in the day the
breeze picked up as did the chop in the river, which started to level the
Sunday’s races were delayed until a consistent
wind direction and wind speed of more then 5 and were welcomed. The
steady, moderate winds and smooth water favored John Drawe’s new Raider
II edging out Duncan Mackenzie by one point for first. Note the fifth
boat in the fleet, a Trinka 12 sailed by Raider and Trinka builder, Mark
Johannsen. This was the first time a Trinka has competed in a Regatta.
